A good franchisor knows its primary job is to ensure its franchisees are successful and profitable. That’s why successful franchise organizations offer support designed to benefit the franchisee every step of the way—not just in the beginning when everything is shiny and new but through every stage of business. This series of blog posts, Great Clips Insider, takes you behind the scenes to learn about the valuable resources available to every owner of a Great Clips walk-in, no-appointment hair salon.

Every week, Great Clips franchisees receive an email newsletter—Franchisee News—filled with information about time-sensitive items they need to take action on (e.g., a software update, new promotional collateral, holiday scheduling, etc.) along with resources they can take advantage of to help them improve operations in their walk-in hair salons. 

As independent business owners, Great Clips hair salon franchisees aren’t required to use all of the information offered by the corporate office, especially any materials related to employment, but the breadth and depth of what’s in the newsletter is impressive. 

Here are a few examples of what was included in a recent Franchisee News—from a straightforward explanation of the ever-evolving data privacy regulations to a preview of Great Clips TV spots airing during the college football season.

This past summer, U.S. and Canadian governments introduced privacy acts that could create new rules governing consumer data privacy. Businesses have obligations relating to the data they collect when their customers share information. Are these laws often complicated? Oh, yeah. Are they critical to running a small business? Definitely. This article assured franchisees that Great Clips, Inc. was closely monitoring the situation and would provide information about compliance as needed.

I’m not a hair stylist (FYI: you do NOT want me near you while holding a pair of scissors—oops, I mean shears!), but I love checking out the Great Clips salon careers website just for the great videos that show real-life stylists taking us behind the scenes in their salons. Franchisee News often includes a link to this site to highlight new materials for franchisees to use in recruiting and hiring their teams. Click here to see what’s included on the site. Great Clips is going all in with high-impact media buys during some of the most highly anticipated College Football Playoff and Bowl Games. This year, the commercial will run through a total of 27 games, including the National Championship Game and the iconic Gator, Orange, and Sugar Bowls (along with bowl names that don’t roll off the tongue as easily—say this one fast three times: the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl Presented by Stifel!).
