There are a lot of factors that contribute to a successful franchise business. Great Clips salon owners recognized for outstanding performance explain which factors most contribute to their success.
Earlier this week, the 2018 Great Clips convention wrapped up, so excuse me a moment while I exhale! What an incredible experience to be surrounded by so many people who personify the Great Clips brand in the salons, day in, day out.
In the next few weeks, I’ll share some of the highlights from Convention: keynote speakers (including the very impressive Bryce Kenny), breakout sessions, awards, the vendor showcase, more awards, inspirational stories shared by Vice Chair of the Board, Rhoda Olsen, and, did I mention all the awards? But my most immediate takeaway is this: We have the best franchisees in the world, so many of whom received recognition at this year’s Convention for outstanding performance by their salon teams in the past year.
In the spirit of Throw Back Thursday, I went back into the Great Clips franchise blog archives and found---not surprisingly---that many of these same franchisees have been profiled here on this site over the years. They were doing something right when we spotlighted them back then, and their hard work is still paying off.
If you’ve ever considered becoming a franchisee, and specifically a franchisee of a walk-in hair salon like Great Clips, I encourage you to check out these stories that illustrate how successful franchisees make it happen.

Life as a Great Clips franchisee
And, here’s one more story that we posted this past summer about Franchisee Brent Brickman who started off as a stylist with Great Clips many years ago. This past week at Convention, one of Brent’s salons in Alaska was recognized for having the highest weekly sales in the entire system. Here’s an excerpt from the article about Brent and his team. (Read the full story here.)
Brent, two customer records and three salons with record sales! What’s your secret?
Brent: I believe an engaged franchisee really makes the difference. It’s about getting the whole team focused on the same goals. It’s building a structure that supports the teamwork.
I’m a big believer in process, metrics, consistency, and setting expectations. We’ve been focusing on delivering a great customer experience, taking it one step at a time. Our product sales are up dramatically and higher than our market average. That’s what happens when you focus on delivering a great experience for the customers and creating a great place to work for the salon teams!
